The purpose of the CAL's Player Development Program is to offer opportunities to members of the CAL who wish to further develop their skills and abilities. While the context of our House League hockey is to offer a fun and respectful environment where each and every player can enjoy the game at their own pace, it is essential that players who want to increase their performances and push back their limits be given the chance to do so.
In the near future, the CAL will be developing a series of clinics and assesment sessions that will enable all members of the league to participate in tailored trainings geared towards a fun, intuitive, improvement based approach. Hockey Canada and the OMHA have designed their own guidelines to describe the further development of a player in function of his age and level. As such, we will design our training based on the National Skills Standards and Testing program and the Skills Development pyramid from Hockey Canada.
The CAL also offers its traditionnal Power Skating Clinics, as well as the Pre-Season Hockey and the Goaltenders Camps. These are all great additions to the House League program.
Finally, the CAL offers the Rostered Select (RS) program. This opportunity offers the players registered in House League to participate in an on-ice assessment at the dawn of the new season to be selected for the RS team of their respective age group. For more details on this unique chance for all members of the CAL, please visit the "Rostered Select" section.
