The CAL's Initiation Program (IP) is where learning to play hockey, starts. The CAL IP is designed for new players aged 5 -8 years old. Players typically stay with the program for 2 - 3 years before progressing to Novice. Players normally require 2 years of IP and an assesment to advance to Novice.
CAL IP runs for 20 weeks from October through the first weekend in March.
CAL IP teams will be created in early October. You will receive a phone call and/or email advising of your player's team and first ice time
CAL IP sessions are scheduled for Saturday afternoons at the Kingston Memorial Centre, 303 York Street in central Kingston. The schedule is rotational beginning at noon and ending at 5:00 pm. You player's game time will have a consecutive start each week. (ie. noon this Sat, 1pm the following Sat, 2pm the following Sat, 3pm the following Sat, 4pm then back to noon.)
Players are on the ice for 50 minutes and must wear full hockey equipment, mouth guard and have a hockey stick.
Players will learn hockey fundamentals on a half ice format, and play half ice shinny games after Christmas with other CAL IP teams, including those at Fort Henry. Some sessions will be at Constantine Arena in the after Christmas IP Schedule.
